You do not need to be afraid of cooking rice. Cooking rice from scratch is easy and much better tasting than instant rice.
-
1
cup
white rice
rinsed
-
2
cups
Water
-
1
teaspoon
salt
-
1
tablespoon
Butter
-
1/2
cup
corn kernels
or any other vegetable
-
1/4
Onion
-
In a saucepan with a good fitting lid bring water and salt to a boil.
-
Add rice, butter, onion and corn. Stir.
-
Cover and reduce heat to medium low. You will know that your temperature is correct if a little steam is visible leaking from the lid. A lot of steam means your heat is too high.
-
Cook for 20 minutes. Do not stir and do not lift the lid.
Remove from heat and fluff with fork.
Serve!
