Mexican bolognese sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 bacon slices, finely chopped
  • 2 celery ribs, finely diced
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey (can substitute with beef)
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 1 jar Mölli Veracruz cooking sauce
  • 1 jar Mölli Morelos cooking sauce
  • 1 cup water

Directions

  1. In a Dutch Oven or medium size pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add bacon and cook for 2 minutes, until it starts to release its fat. Add celery, and cook for two extra minutes.
  2. Add ground turkey and cook until meat is crumbly and no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Season meat with 1/4 tsp salt and freshly ground pepper to taste.
Raise heat to medium high and pour white wine into ground turkey mixture; cook and stir until white wine is mostly evaporated, about 5 more minutes.
  3. Pour Veracruz and Morelos sauce into meat mixture; add water. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring often, until mixture cooks down into a thick sauce, around 3 hours. If sauce is too thick, add a little more water. Season to taste. Serve with your favorite pasta or just by itself with a side of warm baguette. Provecho!
