Picadillo - the authentic Mexican Ground Beef for Tacos

All the ingredients are usually chopped before cooking. “Chopping” in Spanish is “picar” or “cortar”, which is where the dish gets its original name: Picadillo

Ingredients
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 3 tsp Canola oil
  • ½ Medium onion diced
  • 2 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 Large Russet potato diced
  • 2 Medium carrots diced
  • 1 jar Molli Ground Beef for Tacos Simmer Sauce from Morelos
  • 1/2 cup Beef bone broth or water
  • Salt and ground pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft but not browned.

  2. Add the meat and black pepper. Stir constantly until meat is fully browned.
  3. Add the Molli Ground Beef for Tacos sauce and broth/water, bring to a boil. Lower heat, and simmer.

  4. Add potato and carrot, cover and cook on medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until potato is fully cooked.
  5. Season with salt to taste. Serve with a side of rice and warm tortillas. Provecho!
